Solving the Campus Sexual Assault & Dating Violence Puzzle

NEW experiences for presenters:

We are using a new conference platform that will be easier to use for everyone, and especially for presenters, including:

Presenters only need one monitor and will have easy access to their session without the need for additional zoom links.
Use of breakout rooms now available.
Participants can now show their video and unmute depending on presenter preferences.
Breakouts can now be 60 or 75 minutes, depending on presenter preferences.

What a virtual session will look like:

All sessions are LIVE
Breakouts are 75 or 60 minutes
Panels are 60 minutes (If you only have an idea for a panel, but have not determined the panelists at this time, you can still submit a proposal.)
Poster sessions are 20 minutes
Each session will have two support staff – a technical assistant and someone to monitor the chat and help presenters facilitate the Q&A.

Guidelines + Considerations:

Proposals must be submitted by 11:59pm on Sunday, August, 23 2026.
You can submit as many proposals as you like.
All applicants should have an understanding of intersectionality. In other words, they must recognize and acknowledge that everyone’s individual identities make their experiences different, particularly for those from traditionally marginalized communities.
Even though your session will be online, presenters are responsible for ensuring that all participants feel visible, included, and safe.
Proposals that focus on student experience, skill development, practical application, lessons learned/results, are prioritized.
Applicants will be notified of acceptance status via email by Friday September 4th, 2026.

Accepted proposals will receive a discounted conference registration rate of $75 for up to 2 presenters. Please note, this conference provides a variety of scholarship opportunities, so if you want to submit, but do not have the funds to pay for your registration, please still submit a proposal!

This year's conference seeks to highlight the relentless and brave work being done around the world to respond to and prevent sexual and dating violence on college campuses.

The following are this year’s priority areas:

Student & Survivor-led Sessions
Intermediate and advanced levels
Programs highlighting specific tools (i.e. videos, activities, worksheets, etc.)
Multi-disciplinary presenters (i.e. TIX Coordinator + advocate + student)

Focus Areas

Advocacy: maintaining confidential campus advocates, tenants of campus advocacy, culturally-specific advocacy, streamlining services, effective websites/apps/social media.
Dating/Dating Violence: pressure to date, dating after assault, complicated relationships, building boundaries. How do we help students navigate these challenging issues?
Engaging Men and Boys: prevention, advocacy, leadership, survivorship, redefining masculinity, etc.
Healthy Sexuality: intersections among comprehensive sex education, sex positivity, sexual pleasure, and sexual violence (including strangulation).
Intersecting Identities: specialized survivor support and prevention education programs for students from marginalized communities including those who are neurodiverse or from disability communities, BIPOC, and LGBTQI+.
Prevention: creative solutions to decreased student engagement, incorporating restorative justice principles in prevention programming, community-tailored prevention programs, and programs for faith-based institutions and among API, indigenous, neurodivergent, and LGBTQI+ communities.
Respondent Issues: defamation suits, retaliation, effective and meaningful accountability, and campus respondent services.
Student-led: peer education, student activism, social media, student-created and led prevention and awareness programs. We want to learn about all of it.
Tech abuse: sexting, revenge porn, tech harassment, sexual exploitation, deep fakes, AI, etc. How can we prevent this? How do we work with survivors who have experienced this? What policies have been created to effectively respond to this type of abuse and hold offenders accountable?
Title IX: understanding the newest changes, effective Title IX response, nuanced accommodations, and sustaining Title IX Coordinator positions.

Regardless of your session format, it is critical (especially at a virtual conference) that all sessions are interactive and actively engage the audience. The narrative should include: 1) a brief agenda of your session; 2) identify the problem/area you will discuss; 3) describe, if applicable, any research, evidence, or evaluation you will address in your session; 4) describe what makes this session innovative; 5) describe how participants from different institution types or sizes can adapt the information to their own campuses/agencies; 6) explain why the presenter(s) are well-positioned to deliver the content; 7) describe how your session will be helpful to those working with college students; and 8) identify any tangible resources participants will receive i.e. checklists, templates, guides, sample protocols, assessment instruments, etc. For panels, if known, please indicate who will serve as the moderator.

Wellness:

Wellness: We encourage presenters to intentionally infuse wellness into their sessions. Wellness is an important consideration for practitioners to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue. Please share, in detail, how you will incorporate wellness into your presentation. Some ideas to consider:

Facilitate mindful meditation during your session.

Encourage participants to create and maintain a self-care plan as part of their takeaway from your session.

Highlight national, state, and/or campus community level stakeholders, resources, partnerships and programs that can support faculty, staff and student wellness.

Encourage participants to have sensory awareness materials in the space they are in during your session (i.e. aromatherapy, stress toys, etc.).
